Why Are Snakes in My Yard?

Many parents don’t like having snakes in their yard. They’re slimy, gross, and sometimes dangerous. Snakes have ways of getting into weird places that you’d never suspect and scaring the life out of you. They hide out and lurk around your home despite your own wishes. For many, snakes are a pest and must be controlled. This is why this site was created, to help you deal with this problem.

Snakes are wild animals and like wild animals, they’re contently on the hunt for food. If you find a snake under your porch, in the garbage or stalking your garden, it’s very likely he’s hunting for a meal. Typically, they like eating small rodents, such as mice or squirrels, and these locations are where they like to eat. Smaller snakes might be on the hunt for insects and looking to feed on grass hoppers. One way to shore up a snake problem is to eliminate their food source, which means getting rid of other pests like the one previously mentioned.

In addition to food, snakes also search for shelter. They like shade primarily and a proximity to food is essential. For this reason, you should look to keep low hanging shrubbery and gardens away from the home if you have the option. These tend to be snake magnets and attract the little buggers. If nothing else, be sure to trim back any bushes, plants or trees to limit the number of places snakes could hide.
